GumBits Aficionado Grand Remo Continues Competitive Success
Wellington, FL (April 24, 2025) - As a long time 'addict' of GumBits, the official Training Treat of US Equestrian and the US Teams, Grand Remo is a horse that has brought his passion for his favorite treat to multiple National Hunter Championship titles and continued show ring success with his new owner, Stella Propp. "We just finished as Circuit Champion, which was super exciting. And I find that GumBits for him, the thing that I like most is that it keeps him super focused. So he's always chewing on them, always focused and ready to go when we're in the show ring. So there's no room for spooking or getting distracted. He's just focusing on eating the GumBits and trying his best. I found they've really really helped us, especially this season!”
With previous owners and founders of GumBits, Kat and Shereen Fuqua, Remo became a hunter powerhouse over the course of 3-4 years, racking up numerous titles. Transitioning to his new role with Brown University student Propp in the Amateur Owner Hunters, Remo just wrapped up a successful 2025 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) season as circuit Champion in the Younger Amateur Owner Hunters, with his trusty bottle of GumBits at every in-gate.
The 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding's (San Remo—La Molga V) past accolades with Kat Fuqua include three circuit championships (2020, 2021 and 2022) at the Winter Equestrian Festival, two National Horse Show (Kentucky) Championships (KY) (2020 and 2021), the overall title from the 2021 Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championships—East (Pennsylvania), a Championship at the 2021 Washington International Horse Show and Reserve Champion at the 2021 Pennsylvania National Horse Show in the Junior Hunters. Also in 2022, he and Kat Fuqua earned Grand Junior Hunter and Large Junior Hunter, 15 and under Championship honors at the Devon Horse Show (Pennsylvania).
"When we purchased him from the Fuquas, they gave us a case of GumBits and said, 'You're going to need these, he loves them,'" said Propp. "They were right, and Remo has been such a great horse with an amazing personality. He clearly is proof of GumBits' success as a way for horses to relax and focus, and I now give them to may of my horses who have also won major awards at WEF and other shows. It's an amazing way to relieve any underlying tension in the mouth, and present that supple, relaxed connection in the show ring. Obviously Remo is absolutely obsessed with them, its hard to even keep them in your hand when he's around!"
