Double Dose of GumBits Gives Comeback Bonni a Competitive Edge at US Dressage Finals
Lexington, KY (November 14, 2024) - #TeamGumBits rider Denise Steele has an appropriately steely resolve when it comes to her Belissimo M mare, Bon Chance. Known around the barn as Bonni, the mare was diagnosed with a broken coffin bone just after she was imported to the United States from Germany two years ago, following an accident in the pasture. With a combination of determination, attention to detail, and a unique training treat called GumBits, Steele brought Bonni back from the brink to win the Adult Amateur Prix St. Georges Championship and the Jane Westmoreland Malone Perpetual Trophy, presented by USDF, for their 70.882% test during the 2024 US Dressage Finals
Six months of stall rest and hand grazing were advised after Bonni's injury, and Steele was exceptionally diligent during her rehabilitation. Thanks to her efforts, Bonni came back better than ever, proving her value as an FEI level competitor with a spectacular US Dressage Finals performance. Steele has her eyes on the big tour next, and credits GumBits for her "best ever, super smooth" winning test.
"We did a double dose of GumBits just before going in for the class," said Steele. "Bonni is a noisy grinder, but with the GumBits she was much more relaxed, soft in the connection, and the grinding was completely gone! I've tried other products with her and actually tasted them myself. GumBits' sugar coating and all-natural beeswax make a big difference, and the horses enjoy it."
